Staying Visible is the Secret Sauce to Business Success

Christina Shaw

If you’re in business, especially in a relationship-driven industry like insurance, visibility isn’t just nice to have, it’s everything. You can be the best agent out there, offering the best coverage at the best rates, but if people don’t remember you when they need insurance, none of that matters. Staying visible keeps you top of mind, builds trust, and creates opportunities.

So, how do you do it? Here are five key ways to stay visible and keep the business flowing.

Show Up on Social Media (Consistently!)

Let’s be real, people check their social media daily (okay, hourly). If you’re not there, you’re missing a massive opportunity to stay in front of your audience. This doesn’t mean posting only about insurance 24/7—mix it up! Share client success stories, industry tips, personal anecdotes, and even a little humor. Engage with people’s posts, comment, and be part of the conversation. Your goal is to remind people, “Oh yeah, that’s my insurance person!” so when they need coverage, they come straight to you.  Bottom-line, be HUMAN!

Network Like a Pro

Networking isn’t just about shaking hands at a random event, it’s about building meaningful connections over time. Join industry groups, attend local business meetups, and actively participate in professional associations, but don’t just collect business cards. FOLLOW UP! A quick coffee chat, a LinkedIn message, or a thoughtful email can turn a casual introduction into a real business relationship. People do business with those they know, like, and trust so make sure they know you!

Attend (and Host!) Events

Being present at community and industry events keeps your name out there. But don’t just attend, speak, volunteer, or sponsor where possible. Even better? Host your own events. A simple “Ask an Insurance Expert” webinar, a networking coffee hour, or an educational lunch-and-learn can position you as the go-to expert. When you’re the one bringing people together, they remember you.

Use Email Marketing (The Right Way)

Think email is dead? Nope. It’s still one of the most effective ways to stay in touch if you do it right. Instead of bombarding people with “Buy insurance now!” emails, send helpful, engaging content. Share seasonal insurance tips, industry updates, or even a personal story about how you helped a client. Make it interesting, keep it short, and always include a call to action (even if it’s just “Hit reply and say hi!”). When your emails provide value, people actually want to hear from you.

Be Everywhere (Without Burning Out)

Staying visible doesn’t mean running yourself ragged trying to be everywhere at once. Instead, pick a few key strategies and show up consistently. Post on LinkedIn three times a week, become a regular on Instagram, attend several networking events a month, send a valuable email every couple of weeks or whatever rhythm works for you. The key is staying present so that when people think, “I need insurance,” they immediately think of you.

At the end of the day, success in business isn’t just about what you offer, it’s about who remembers you when they need it. Stay visible, stay connected, and watch the referrals roll in!
