As a single mom navigating the ups and downs of my life, I wear many hats, including mom, partner in a blended family, business owner, networker, volunteer, fundraiser, and friend.
With so many responsibilities, it’s easy to get caught up in the noise and the endless scroll of social media, the opinions of others, and the general hubbub of the world around us.
Do you ever have those days that are just “too much?” I know that I do, and I’ve found that staying true to my beliefs is what keeps me grounded in both my personal and professional life.
But there’s a challenge to staying grounded, because it’s far easier to be swayed by trends, social pressure, and the latest news than to hold steadfast to the values we cherish.
I believe those values are what define us. They guide our decisions, influence how we treat others, and shape the legacy we leave behind.
For me, these values aren’t abstract. They’re the foundation of how I run my business, build relationships, and parent my children. They remind me that integrity, collaboration, cooperation, and kindness are not just ideals but practices that need nurturing every day.
As a mom, this commitment to my values takes on even greater importance. Kids don’t just listen to what we say, they watch what we do. They model our behavior, absorb our habits, and reflect back our choices.
That’s why I make a conscious effort to look closely at my actions.
Am I demonstrating the values I want my children to carry forward?
Am I showing them how to face challenges with grace, how to treat others with respect, and how to stay true to their own beliefs, even when it’s hard?
In my professional life, I’ve found tremendous support in the Allstate agent community. The generosity, cooperation, and collaboration I’ve experienced from my trusted colleagues are invaluable. This isn’t just about business, it’s about building connections that inspire.
I rely on honest feedback from those I trust to help me grow. Whether it’s a colleague pointing out where I can improve or a friend reminding me of my strengths, these conversations keep me accountable to my values and help me see the bigger picture.
As the year winds down, I find myself reflecting on everything I’ve learned. What did I get right? Where can I do better? How can I improve in meaningful, tangible ways? While this feels like a natural wrap-up for the year, I know I’ll continue to write, reflect, and share because I always seem to have more to say.
What are the values that guide you? How do you stay true to them in the face of challenges? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
